Donegal put in a dominant second-half display to defeat Tyrone in their Ulster Minor Football Championship clash at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey this afternoon on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-08.

All square at half time at 1-05 to 0-08, Declan Bonner’s side reappeared to take the game by the scruff of the neck to dominant the second period in which they prevented Tyrone from scoring.

Donegal got off to a dream start when Conor Doherty, a late replacement for Burt's Mark Coyle, netted a goal and a point in the opening minutes before the Red Hand got on full forward Finton McClure proving a particular thorn in the side for Declan Bonner’s men.

As was their style at this level last year, Donegal got numbers behind the ball as Tyrone bossed possession and a brace of points from Conor McLernon had the sides level at six points each after 19 minutes.

Tyrone edged ahead in the 25th minute with two McClure points taking their tally to 0-8 points but Donegal finished the half strongly to get back level before the break.

After the break, Daire O’Baoill edged Donegal in front again with an excellent point from out on the right in the 38th minute.

A Barrett free doubled the advantage five minutes later.

Points from O’Donnell, Barrett, Rory Carr (free) and Niall O’Donnell secured the win.

Attention now switches to the senior clash between the two counties which gets under way at 4.00pm.
