The mystery of Rory Patterson’s ongoing back problem is finally set to be resolved, with Peter Hutton admitting that it is becoming an increasing cause of concern.

Patterson was used as an unused substitute in Monday's win over Limerick and is highly doubtful for tomorrow's visit of champions St. Pat's.

It was revealed that the striker had been carrying the injury for a while but playing through the pain barrier but manager Peter Hutton admits that the issue needs to be resolved.

“Rory is struggling with his back and he will probably need a scan to look at the problem,” he said. “He is extremely doubtful for Friday. Although he’s improved a bit, he had a bit of traction yesterday and I would doubt he’ll be available.

“Apparently he had a problem with his back last year but it wasn’t investigated to see what the source of the problem was, so that’s what we’re looking into now.”
