Roddy Collins has admitted that his departure from Derry City has left him "very raw".

The Dubliner left the Brandywell last Sunday in the wake of last week's defeat to Shamrock Rovers but, despite officially parting by "mutual consent", Collins admits that the exit was hard to take.

"This week has been one of my toughest I've experienced in football - not just for me but for my family too," Collins wrote in the Irish Daily Star.

"My departure from Derry City is still very raw for me and my wife.  And my kids have been getting stick at school over comments made by James McClean on Twitter.

"When you lose your job in football, it's a public execution.  In this game there are going to be more disappoinments than moments to celebrate.  Why do we keep coming back for more?  For the love of the game.  And I am determined to bounce back."
