Derry girl Aileen Reid came in sixth in the triathlon event at the Commonwealth Games.

Representing Northern Ireland, Reid gave an impressive account of herself as she finished just 50 seconds shy of the winner, England's Jamie Stimpson.

Leading after the swim leg of the circuit, Reid lost ground on the bike and admitted that she was suffering a bit with cramp by the time the girls were running for home and she finished 35 seconds outside the medal reckoning with a time of 1 hour 59 minutes 46 seconds.

"I gave it everything," she said afterwards.  "I'm happy with my own performance.  I left everything out there."
