DERRY will have to plan without the services of dynamic midfielder Padraig Cassidy for Sunday week's Ulster championship clash with Tyrone.

Speaking after training on Thursday night, Derry manager Damian Barton confirmed Cassidy's departure from the panel.

The Slaughtneil man played in the Cork and Fermanagh league games, also featuring prominently in Sunday's win over Westmeath in a challenge match.

It is understood Cassidy is planning to spend the summer in America and plans to return for Slaughtneil's Derry SFC campaign.

Derry used 38 players across the McKenna Cup and NFL.  Ciaran McFaul is back in full training after missing the entire season.  U21 players Shane McGuigan and Conor Doherty have both joined the panel in recent weeks.

Laois referee Maurice Deegan has been appointed to take charge of the Celtic Park encounter, a seventh between the rivals during Damian Barton's tenure.
