A late goal from Eimear Callaghan earned newly-promoted Derry City Ladies a draw with champions Newry City Ladies in their Northern Ireland Women’s Premiership clash at the Riverside in Drumahoe last night.

The Candy Stripesput in a strong defensive performance to restrict the champions to long range efforts in the first half..

Newry went ahead in the second half but an injury time goal from Callaghan gave the Brandywell girls their first point of the campaign.

They were defeated 4-2 by Mid Ulster Ladies in their opening game last week.

Next up for Derry is an away game against Linfield Ladies on Wednesday night next.
