Aghadowey’s Eunan McGlinchey put the disappointment of his previous outing to break back into the top five in the Supersport category, and retake second position in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 standings.

The Dickies Junior Supersport champion was in action at Thruxton for #Team109, along with team mates Curtis Trimble and Graeme Irwin.

McGlinchey didn’t have the best of starts following some set up trouble with the Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 but the support team had him back in full throttle for qualifying on Saturday morning, and the work certainly paid off with the 12 year-old scoring a third row start for Sundays race, taking eighth in the session.

In the 14 lap race on Sunday, McGlinchey battled hard on board the Kawasaki, and as the race entered the latter stages he was on the back of the leading group and running at a solid pace.

As they began the last lap McGlinchey was looking strong and was showing late race pace. As the group crossed the line for the final time, he had managed to score a fifth place finish, and with it 11 championship points, which seen him retake second in the standings, just 17 points behind current leader, Shane Richardson.

“It was yet another new track for pretty much everyone,” commented Team #109 team manager Paul Tobin.

“Eunan had to learn the circuit on the 636, while Curtis and Graeme were seeing it for the first time.  Eunan started off the weekend with some ongoing issues from Snetterton but the team worked very hard to correct this.

“He still had some lingering trouble as he went into qualifying on Saturday, but he managed to pull it out of the bag and score a third row finish.

“The team once again did a great job overnight, and Eunan backed that up with a great performance in the race to take a top five finish, and score some more important championship points, leaving him just 17 (points) off the lead.”

“A solid weekend across the board for all three lads, and we look forward now to Cadwell,” Tobin concluded.  “It’ll be just Eunan and Graeme in action, with Curtis coming back for Oulton Park at the beginning of September.”
