CAVAN referee Joe McQuillan will take charge of Derry's Ulster Senior Football Championship quarter-final with Donegal on Sunday week.

It has also been confirmed that the game will be broadcast live on RTÉ TV as part of a double header with the Munster SHC clash of Cork and Waterford. The game will therefore also be broadcast live on BBC TV as part of their shared broadcasting deal for the Ulster Championship.

McQuillan is one of the most experienced referees in the country, having taken charge of the All-Ireland final in both 2011 and 2013, as well as the much-anticipated clash between Donegal and Tyrone this time last year.

There was also good news for Derry on the injury front at the weekend as Sean Leo McGoldrick and James Kielt both came through club games on Friday night.

With just ten days until the clash between the Division One NFL finalists and the 2012 All-Ireland champions, the news of both will be gladly received by Derry manager Brian McIver.

The news for Donegal hasn't been quite as positive. With Rory Kavanagh suspended after being sent off in their Division Two final defeat by Monaghan, there are doubts over his midfield partner Neil Gallagher, who suffered an ankle injury in training.
