Gareth McKinless will make his championship debut for Derry in Sunday's Ulster quarter-final clash with Donegal.
The Ballinderry man, who has played just 35 minutes of inter-county football, replaces Oisin Duffy in the full-back line as one of two changes from the league final.
The other change, as expected, sees Sean Leo McGoldrick back in at the expense of Aidan McAlynn.
McKinless, interestingly, is named to start at full-back, with Chrissy McKaigue moved to the corner.
That makes it appear that the Shamrocks defender will line up against Michael Murphy, as he did in his club's Ulster Club final win over Glenswilly.
McKinless started Derry's league win over Kildare but was withdrawn with a head injury at half-time, and subsequently missed the rest of the league.
He comes in for Foreglen man Duffy, who appeared to have staked a good claim for a start after playing the last three games.
That aside, there are two very interesting positional switches. Mark Lynch is named at centre-back, where he played much of last season.
Sean Leo McGoldrick is lined out at 11, though it would be a surprise if the Eoghan Rua man plays there.
Otherwise, there is no change to Brian McIver's starting line-up. James Kielt is named among the substitutes, but it remains unclear how much of a part he will be able to play.
That injury saves Brian McIver a decision between Kielt and Benny Heron, who now starts in the corner.
Derry: Thomas Mallon; Chrissy McKaigue, Gareth McKinless, Dermot McBride; Kevin Johnston, Mark Lynch, Gerard O'Kane; Fergal Doherty, Patsy Bradley; Ciaran McFaul, Sean Leo McGoldrick, Enda Lynn; Benny Heron, Emmett McGuckin, Cailean O'Boyle
ELSEWHERE, Derry minors will start with seven of the St. Patrick's Maghera's side which reached the Hogan Cup final for their clash with Declan Bonner's side (12.15pm).
Cathal Mulholland captains the side from wing-back, with his schoolmates Paul McNeill, Caolan McNeill, Conor Glass, Jack Doherty, Peter Hagan and Danny Tallon all on the starting fifteen.
Derry will hope that their forward line, which is led by Tallon and has Bellaghy's Ruairi McElwee and Ballinascreen's Barry Grant up top, can cause the Ulster League winners enough problems to cause an upset.
The impressive Niall Keenan is named at centre-back, with Newbridge's Dessie McColgan and skipper Mulholland either side in what is another strong line. They will look to Conor Glass at midfield for leadership as well.
Derry minors: Callum Mullan-Young; Michael McAvoy, Paul McNeill, Caolan McNeill; Dessie McColgan, Niall Keenan, Cathal Mulholland; Conor Glass, Jack Doherty; Peter Hagan, Tiarnan Flanagan, Dillon Fitzpatrick; Barry Grant, Danny Tallon, Ruairi McElwee
