Former Derry City player Patrick McEleney was part of the Dundalk side that made history tonight by becoming the first Irish side to win a game in the Europa League.

Managed by former Derry City boss Stephen Kenny, Dundalk were good value for their 1-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel at Tallaght Stadium.

Birthday boy Ciaran Kilduff scored a late winner as he latched onto a Daryl Horgan cross.

The Louth side now have four points having drawn their opening game away to Az Alkmaar of the Netherlands.

Next up for Dundalk on the domestic front is a meeting with Derry City in the semi-finals of the FAI Cup this Sunday.

One of Dundalk's unused subs, Darren Meenan, is a former Finn Harps player having been with the Donegal club in 2006.07.
