Kevin Deery has been given the job as Institute manager.
Although Institute have yet to officially announce the appointment, it is understood that the former Derry City captain met with the club’s players for the first time this evening. Last season’s captain at ‘Stute, Paddy McLaughlin, is expected to be named as his assistant.
Deery led Intermediate League side Trojans to an unprecedented treble in his first season as a manager, taking the Creggan team through the season unbeaten. Deery, alongside Paul ‘Oxo’ McLaughlin led Trojans to the Intermediate League title, the Intermediate Cup and the Intermediate Challenge Cup.
30-year-old Deery made over 300 appearances for Derry City in 12 years at the club before Roddy Collins brought his career at the Brandywell to an end in 2014.
