The Co Derry pullers came out on top at the weekend after six weeks of competition at different venues through the North with nine teams taking part.

The final event was held in Fivemiletown College on Saturday when Aghadowey clinched the gold medal ahead of Leo’s Boys (silver) and Richill C (bronze).

The next competition will be held this Saturday at Fivemiletown College at 6.00pm and will be the first of the Northern Ireland Championships, which will see a team made up of seven or eight pullers compete at a weight limit of 560kgs.

There will also be a five-a-side 400kg and eight-a-side mixed category (five male and three female) competition on the night.
