Finn Harps 0, Cork City 0

Finn Harps have put in a decent first half display here at Finn Park tonight and are holding high-flying Cork City scoreless.

As expected, City pressed hard initially and enjoyed plenty of possession against dogged Harps who made five changes from the side that had started in the defeat against Longford on Friday.

Harps defended resolutely despite being under pressure at times.

Midway through the first half there was some respite  as Harps won their first corner and enjoyed a decent spell, typified by the energy of recalled midfielder Michael Funston whose combative tussle with Kevin O’Connor led to the latter being booked on 25 minutes.

Indeed, Harps carved out the first real chance of note with a Adam Hanlon drive just wide of the target shortly afterwards.

When Karl Sheppard appeared to have outfoxed the Harps defence, Ciaran Gallagher was quickly off his line to intervene and then on 40 minutes Alan Bennett rose to firmly meet a Dooley corner but headed over the target.
