Next Saturday night, December 8, the Mayor and Mayoress of Moyola Park will be announced at Moyola Park Golf Club, and it is guaranteed to be a great night.

The candidates have been 'canvassing' over the last few months, organising a number of events, providing great fun and entertainment in and around the club.  There have been various quiz nights, Mr&Mrs, FIFA Soccer tournament, card nights, pool and putting competitions orgainsed by the candidates for Mayor.

On the more cultured side the candidates for Mayoress have been organising home baking, come dine with me, a Swish event, some inspirational speakers, prize draws, Dance fitness and many more. Between them all the candidates ensured there was something for everyone.

So Saturday brings the big night when the candidates will learn their fates…… who will become Mayor and Mayoress of Moyola Park.

The Candidates for Mayoress are –

Julie McKee: She balances her best moment in golf as a hole in one at the fourth at Moyola Park which was matched by her playing partner with the next shot against her worst moment when after partaking of the hospitality at the 10th hole at Royal Portrush, her playing partner had to walk all the way back to the teebox after Julie had a fresh air shot.

Rachel Smith: She cities her most enjoyable moment as winning a member/guest competition in Florida but is pretty coy about her worst moment 'as there are too many to pick one from.'

Josie McGuckin: Josie was pretty happy with winning her first 'major' at Moyola this year while being honest enough to acknowledge one occasion where a bucket and spade would have been more helpful than a sand iron.

The Candidates for Mayor are –

Charlie McAuley: He pairs off his hole in one at Dungannon as his best moment alongside the consequences - at the 19th hole on the same day after the celebrations – as his worst. An honest man who still recognises the true values and traditions of the game.

Damian McLarnon: Annother who like Charlie had the highs and lows of a hole in one. In addition Damian says he would like to be Mayor 'because the captain’s job has already been taken', so watch out Mr Captain he is creeping up behind you.

Seamus Graffin: Seamus'  greatest and most painful moments were representing the club in the Pierce Purcell, Ulster champions but losing out in the National semi finals. Seamus is standing as when asked “she wouldn’t take no for an answer!”

Saturday night at Moyola Park Golf club is sure to be a great night’s entertainment with our own Vince Donnelly as MC and music by Rendition. Everyone welcome a good night’s entertainment with the fun starting at 8.30pm
