While the junior championship hots up, the senior and intermediate campaigns won’t get under way until mid-September.

The match of the round is All-Ireland Champions Slaughtneil putting their two year unbeaten run on the line against Ballinascreen, in a repeat of last year’s county final.

The Emmet’s have lost Denise McGuigan and defender Dervlagh McGuigan to retirement.  Also, joint captain and key-marker Clare McGrath has also called time on her career.

Ballinascreen’s dual players have been boosted by winning the football championship and after giving the small-ball game a back-seat until now, before ramped up their preparations.

Last year’s intermediate champions Ballinderry face former double All-Ireland intermediate champions Eoghan Rua in a touch opening round.

In the intermediate championship, league winners Dungiven will meet Bellaghy in the first round – the only team to have beaten the Tones during the league.
