Bridie McMenamin Shield semi-final

Culloville 1-3 Lavey 4-6

It will be a derby final of sorts for the Bridie McMenamin Shield on Saturday week with two early goals from Lavey setting them up for a showdown with Ahoghill.

Shauneen McCann was the player to scupper any hopes that Culloville had of becoming the first Armagh team to make the final, the Lavey half-forward getting through for two goals in the opening nine minutes.

Although Pauline Faughey responded three minutes later to make it 2-2 to 1-1 and settled well into the game for the rest of the second half, the damage had been done.

Lavey went on to lead by 2-4 to 1-1 at the break with McCann a constant threat up front while their defence, well led by Laura Scullion, was sound and always alert to the danger posed by Faugherty who had good support from Davina Evans and the Watters twins.

The killer blow for Culloville came in the 43rd minute when Úna McCloy grabbed a third Lavey goal and a 3-5 to 1-1 advantage. Six minutes later Kerrie Shivers also found the net for the Derry champions who held off a late surge from Culloville to reach the final.
