McGURK ARCHITECTS SHC QUALIFIERS
Kevin Lynch’s 1-17 Lavey 0-10
KEVIN Lynch’s blitzed Lavey with a second-half scoring display to setup a semi-final clash with neighbours Banagher in on Saturday, September 2.
Ciaran Mackle scored a first-half goal that would see Geoffrey McGonigle’s side into a narrow two point interval lead.
Lavey emerged from the blocks quickest racing into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead, with their captain Paddy Henry involved in all their attacking prowess. The opening half of this keenly contested game was dominated by the free takers Henry and Kevin Lynch's full-forward Odhran McKeever.
Henry extended the Lavey lead with a brace of points but a Ciaran Mackle goal midway through the half and an Adrian Armstrong point put Lynch’s 1-2 to 0-4 in front.
After the break, points from Odhrán McKeever and Armstrong saw them lead 1-11 to 0-9 after 40 minutes.
Twice in the third quarter Kevin Lynch’s keeper Brian Lagan made superb close range saves from Sam Dodds moments after the restart and then from Sean Toner in the 13th minute when five points separated the teams.
Lavey scored a single point for the rest of the game, as McKeever rattled up a personal tally of 0-9 and shoot Kevin Lynch’s into the last four.
