Lavey booked their place in the Derry SHC semi-finals thanks to a rampant finish to the first-that saw them score 1-6 inside ten minutes to lead by eight points at half-time and on the way to a 2-16 to 0-16 victory.
Paul Cleary couldn’t have done much more in the Ballinascreen cause. He scored 0-13 over the hour but, as the scoreline suggests, it was the goals that did the trick for Lavey.
Paddy Henry’s long-range free evaded everyone before landing in the net during Lavey’s purple patch. And in the second-half, as ‘Screen staged a comeback, Fintan Bradley ended a fine move for their crucial second goal.
Manager Johnny McGarvey was a content man as he watched his Lavey side book their spot in the senior hurling championship semi-finals.
