Castledawson 0-12 Craigbane 0-7

A storming first quarter saw Castledawson lead 0-8 to 0-0 and put themselves well on their way to the quarter-finals at a windswept Owenbeg on Friday night.

Rian Connery hit four points in a strong performance against a Craigbane team who didn't score in the opening 20 minutes.

The winners were 0-8 to 0-2 ahead at the break but needed a save from Aidan McLaughlin to deny Oisin O'Donnell in a third quarter that saw Craigbane gain some sort of foothold in the game.

Brian Rainey was red-carded after 51 minutes in an incident that saw Odhrán Mullan see yellow and it was Castledawson who ran out comfortable winners.

In the other game on Friday night, Claudy needed an injury time point to salvage a draw (3-7 to 2-10) with Steelstown at Celtic Park.

The city side trailed 2-6 to 0-2 but the introduction of Mickey McKinney and Rory Maguire changed the pattern of the game.

Conor Johnston and Oran Armstrong were both sent off for Claudy as Steelstown pegged themselves into contention with goals from McKinney and a Gareth Logue penalty.

With three minutes to go, Diarmuid Baker's goal had Steelstown ahead for the first time in the game before Kerrigan's late equaliser.
