Finn Harps' unbeaten run of four games came to a dramatic halt in Tallaght tonight as Simon Madden scored a dramatic 90th minute goal to give Shamrock Rovers a 3-2 victory.

Paddy McCourt had grabbed a 77th minute equaliser as Finn Harps' came from two down to level the scores at 2-2 and the Donegal side looked to be on course for a point, but Rovers then struck to break the Harps' hearts.

Harps were 2-0 down within 14 minutes but Ollie Horgan's charges never stopped battling.

Despite injury doubts during the week, McCourt did feature in the Harps starting line-up.

Rovers, who had lost four of their first six league games, got off to a great start by taking the lead through David McAllister after two minutes with a cracking effort from 30 yards that went in off the underside of the crossbar.

And Harps were in bother again just 12 minutes later as Ronan Finn also found the target with a long-range strike.

Harps had a penalty plea on 18 minutes when a Caolan McAleer ball into the box appeared to hit Sam Bone's arm, but much to the visitors' frustration nothing was given.

Luck was not on Harps' side as striker Ciaran O'Connor had to go off injured on 22 minutes and was replaced by Barry Molloy.

But Harps pulled one back on 71 minutes through McAleer, who was one of the real stars for the Donegal side.

McCourt then got his first goal for Harps six minutes later to delight the small band of travelling fans in a crowd of 2,510.

But Madden had the last say as lucky Rovers bagged the points to move above Harps in the table.
