Derry's Shane Duffy was named as the Republic of Ireland's Man of the Match following tonight's 1-0 win over Switzerland in a friendly soccer international at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Duffy, who plays with Blackburn Rovers, got only his second cap as manager Martin O'Neill fielded an experimental side.

The only goal of the game came from Ciaran Clarke - after just two minutes.

Duffy rose well to meet a corner and Clarke then got the final nod on it.

Duffy's father, Brian, hails from Donegal.

Derry's Eunan O'Kane, who plays with Bournemouth, came on as a second half substitute to win his first full cap.

Brentford midfielder Alan Judge was also handed a first cap.

On a disappointing note, Kevin Doyle went off injured.

A crowd of over 35,000 attended the game.

The Republic of Ireland starting line-up was:  Randolph, Coleman, Duffy, Clark, Brady, Judge, Meyler, Quinn, McGeady, Long, Doyle.
