Derry's 2-20 to 0-6 win over QUB at Owenbeg means that they have topped  Section A in the Dr. McKenna Cup on scoring average and so progress to the semi-finals.

Goals from Enda Lynn and Neil Forester helped Derry to the win on a night of drama as a power failure led to a 30-minute delay.

Derry's reward is a semi-final against Monaghan at the Athletic Grounds on Sunday while the other semi-final will see Tyrone taking on Fermanagh in a game that will be played in Clones.

Armagh edged out Down 1-15 to 2-8 in the same group.

Holders Tyrone romped to a  2-23 to 0-6 Section C win over Donegal as Cavan surprisingly lost against Ulster University.

Cavan only needed a draw to win Section C but Paddy McBrearty and Mark Bradley were to the fore as UU chalked up a 0-19 to 0-15 success at Kingspan Breffni Park.

Monaghan's good start to the year continued as they beat St Mary's 1-13 to 0-10 to top Section B.

Fermanagh thumped Antrim 0-19 to 0-5 and so qualify for the semi-finals as the best runners-up.
