The much fancied Farloe Joey, owned by Derry's Paul Ellis, and trained by Owen McKenna, is out of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby.
The top tracker, who impressed in two previous rounds, went out in heat one of tonight's third round at Shelbourne Park, failing to finish in the top three. The heat was won by Slippery Louise for Larry Dunne and Graham Holland in 29.68.
However, there was better news for Ellis' other dog, Farloe Rumble, in heat six.
Third in last year's Derby, the Owen McKenna trained dog came third in a race won by Rural Hawaii in 29.97.
Aming the big name dogs who failed to qualify were Laughil Duke and Milldean Puma.
