Derry City have announced the signing of Shaun Kelly.

The former Limerick right back joins the Candy Stripes as Peter Hutton's new addition and the City manager is hoping that the 24-year-old Donegal native can be the answer to the club's full back problems.

"I’m delighted to get young Shaun in because I’m a long time admirer of his," the manager spoke after today's crushing of UCD.  "I tried to sign him when I was at Finn Harps before he joined Limerick. He’s a Donegal native, he’s a good experienced player and he’s still fairly young at 24.

"Our right back position has been a bit problematic this season so Shaun comes in and we’re delighted. He’s also ready to move closer to home. He and his partner recently had their first child so it suited both parties. H isn’t 100% at the moment but we’ll get him integrated into the team this week."
