Local rising star Connor Coyle is continuing to make his mark on the professional boxing scene, and he now knows who his next fight will be against.
The 26-year-old is two for two with one knockout since he made the decision to step up from the amateur ranks and he will be hoping to continue that clean sheet of victories next month.
The Derry man will face Nicaraguan Michael Mora as part of the ‘Unfinished Business’ card which will take place in the National Stadium in Dublin on February 25.
It will be the second time that Coyle has fought in the Irish capital and he will be hoping for a similar result to the last one against the experienced Mora who has fought 26 times, losing out on 15 occasions.
While he started out with promise Coyle’s 24-year-old opponent has taken on a ‘journey man’ tag after failing to live up to the expectations placed on him in his native country when he challenged for the welterweight title in 2014.
Coyle returned to his training base in St Petersburg in Florida after the New Year and he is currently in camp with Hall of Fame coach Jim McLoughlin to prepare for his next fight.
No doubt the light middleweight boxer will be eager to build on his knockout performance against Euris Silverio rather than the points win against Santos Medrano in Dublin, a boxer he described as ‘negative’.
As a former Commonwealth bronze medallist many rate Coyle to go far in the professional game and he feels that 2017 is his year to build up his professional record, starting with the February 25 date against Mora.
Tickets for the ‘Unfinished Business’ show are now on sale and can be purchased from Rod Line Fishing Shop.
