Derry City 2

Coleraine 2

Derry City and Coleraine played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Brandywell this afternoon.

The game, City’s final fixture of their pre-season preparations, saw the club donate all proceeds to former striker Mark Farren, who is battling against a brain illness.

Around 200 people were in attendance to see Coleraine fight back from two goals down to claim a draw.

Rory Patterson gave Derry City the lead heading into half time and that lead was doubled by strike partner Mark Stewart five minutes after the break.

However, Coleraine fought back and former Candy Stripe Ruairi Harkin pulled a goal back before Luke McDowell hit a late equaliser.

Derry City’s League of Ireland season starts next Sunday March 9 against Shamrock Rovers in Dublin.
