Ulster U21 Hurling Final - Derry 3-17 Down 1-9
Michael McMullan in Belfast
DERRY won their sixth Ulster U21 hurling title on Wednesday night with a convincing victory over Down at Corrigan Park.
After a disappointing 2016, the latest piece of silverware adds to the Nicky Rackard triumph over Armagh earlier this season.
Captain Ciaran Steele spoke to the County Derry Post after the game about winning trophies being 'great for Derry hurling' and the busy schedule with dual players.
"Brendan Rogers and Chrissy McKaigue have shown that you can go and play both codes, if you put your mind to it," commented Steele.
The skipper also paid tribute to boss Collie McGurk for getting Derry hurling back on track and Corey O'Reilly for coming off the bench to grab two goals.
