The countdown is on to a new race on the local running circuit - the Glenmore Ten Miler.

On-line entries close today for the event being hosted by the Finn Valley Athletic Club in Stranorlar/Ballybofey this Sunday.

The first medium distance race of the year in Donegal, it looks set to attract big numbers and all the indications are that it could become one of the county's most well supported events.

Participants from Donegal, Derry, Tyrone, and Fermanagh are already confirmed.

The ten mile route is largely flat and around the Ballybofey/Stranorlar area.

The first 500 participants will get a special tech t-shirt to commemorate the race, and finishers will also get a medallion.

Local sponsors have come on board in with great support for the event.

The race gets underway from the Finn Valley Centre at 11.00 am on Sunday.
