Kenny Shiels has insisted that Josh Daniels is still a Derry City player as question marks remain over his future.
The midfielder released a statement on social media last week announcing his departure from the club, before quickly removing it, with Shiels admitting that he still hoped to keep the player.
Daniels should reach his final decision soon, but Shiels was adamant he was fully behind the player whatever his choice.
“Nothing has been decided as yet,” he said. “We have always said that we will support Josh in his decision whatever that may be so Josh has gone away to think about what his decision is going to be. He is meeting a couple of clubs. The Chairman has already said that he won’t stand in his way so there are no problems there. He’s still a Derry City player as we speak, but he’s trying to make a few decisions on his future and we’ll support that 100%.
“We will support where he wants to go. It’s not whether or not we want him to stay, it’s down to what support we can give him on his decision. We have done that and we will continue to do that.”
