INSTITUTE 1, COLERAINE 1 (after extra-time)
(Institute win 4-2 on penalties)

Institute collected their first piece of silverware of the new season when they defeated Coleraine 4-2 on penalties in the final of the North West Senior Cup at Drumahoe tonight.

Alex Pomeroy gave Stute the lead in the sixth minute when he took advantage of a mistake in the Coleraine defence to slot past Michael Doherty.

The Bannsiders' first attempt on target resulted in an equaliser, Sammy Morrow heading home from close range in the 27th minute.

Institute dominated the second half but were unable to penetrate the Coleraine defence.

The Drumahoe side created a number of chances in extra-time but were unable to find a way past Doherty.

Institute went on to win the penalty shoot-out 4-2, goalscorer Morrow and Edgar being the two unfortunate Bannsiders to miss their spot kicks.

Next up for Institute is a home clash against Championship One League leaders on Saturday.
