Institute travel to Dixon Park tonight to take on Ballyclare Comrades in an IFA Championship One clash (kick off 7.45pm).

Manager Kevin Deery (pictured) said his team “absolutely” see themselves as title challengers,

Deery’s side picked up their first three points of the season last week against H&W Welders and the manager believes they can keep progressing against the current league leaders.

“We went to Ballyclare in our final game last season and we finished strong,” he said.

“It’s always a tough game and they have some good players but I think if we concentrate on our jobs we can nullify the threat.”

Sean McCarron has three goals in as many games for ‘Stute and Deery said his side’s improved attacking threat will be vital to their title hopes.

“Last season we fell just short for the simple fact that we didn’t score enough goals.

“We had the best defensive record but we tailed off at the end so we’ve gone out and strengthened the squad with players who have proven goal-scoring records.”

The manager said that his side’s start to last season was a lesson that every game is vital.

“Last year we pushed it right till the end but unfortunately our poor start hampered us too much.

“Now we can rectify last year’s mistakes and announce early that we are serious about the title and that starts with tomorrow night.”.

Comrades have made the perfect start to the new season, winning both of their opening games.
