It is believed that the 'Derry Pele' Paddy McCourt is set to sign for Dundalk FC.
The move would see him link up with his former Derry City manager Stephen Kenny.
McCourt is a free agent after leaving Irish Premiership side Glenavon recently and has kept himself busy coaching in and around his native Derry.
He had indicated a desire to return to full time football in recent weeks.
