Derry City travel to Tallaght Stadium in Dublin tonight to take on Shamrock Rovers in a crucial Airtricity Premier Division clash (kick-off 7.45pm).
New signing Maximllian Kraner has been ruled out after the defender limped out of Saturday night’s 2-2 draw with Bray Wanderers with a groin injury.
It is latest blow to manager Kenny Shiels with defensive pairing Ryan McBride and Aaron Barry also missing out due to long term injuries while recently signed Spaniard Cristian Castells (pictured) will undergo a late fitness test.
It is a game the Candy Stripes can ill-afford to lose in the race for an automatic European qualifying spot in the league.
City are currently in the all-important automatic third spot, two points ahead of Rovers who have two games in hand.
However, Shiels is confident his players have what it takes ot get a result.
“It’s a very significant game but we can go there and win.
“I don’t see why we can’t and that’s the attitude in the dressing room.
“We want to go there and win and I hope we can do that. We showed good character against Bray so hopefully we can take that on to Rovers and show the same commitment and passion for the team.
“We’re massively understrength but we have to make the most of what we have.”
