A thunderstorm warning has been issued for across Northern Ireland by forecasters.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow alert warning for between noon and 9.00pm on Monday, warning that heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause disruption.

The forecaster said that flooding of some homes and businesses was likely, and could lead to damage to buildings or structures.

"Heavy showers are expected to develop by Monday afternoon across Northern Ireland, aided by daytime heating.

"These may turn heavy and thundery at times, with a risk of hail.

“There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.

"The heaviest showers are most likely in the east of the Province. Totals of 30-40mm in a couple of hours are possible."
