There were celebrations on-board the Gola Island ferry after a Donegal man proposed to his girlfriend.

Tourists from Cambridge, Brighton, London, Letterkenny and Belfast were on hand to help Donal McGee and Rosie O'Brien celebrate the magical moment on Sunday, in a video captured by Sean Hillen.

The Gola Island ferry, ‘The Cricket’ - also known as ‘The Love Boat’ - was the perfect method of transport for born-romantic Donal (29), from Falcarragh, to propose on the island to Rosie O’Brien (28) from Dunfanaghy.

Generous boat captain Sabba Curran even granted Donal and Rosie free passage to the scene of the romantic proposal.
