A fire at a Derry school has been brought under control.
The blaze at classrooms to the rear of Holy Child Primary School in the Creggan area of the city.
At one stage, six fire crews attended the scene.
Adjacent Fanad Drive was partially sealed off to facilitate fire crews.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known but Independent councillor for the area, Gary Donnelly, said if it turned out to be malicious then it was an "absolutely disgusting" act
Speaking at the scene, he said: "Following on from last week's vandal attack on the adjacent St Cecilia's College sports pavilion, this is absolutely disgusting.
"Several hundred people have gathered here and they are shocked and totally sickened with what they are witnessing.
"This is not just an attack on the school but an attack on the entire community and those responsible must be condemned."
He concluded: "At a time when schools are under pressure the last thing needed is damage such as this."
