A charity which helps victims of crime has launched a new hard-hitting campaign in Derry aimed at promoting their service to local people.
Victim Support NI, which helps victims of crime in communities and courts throughout Northern Ireland, launched their channel ‘Victim Support NI’ at an event today held in The Nerve Centre, Derry.
The channel features video testimonies from people who have used their services, including a woman who used the service in Derry after her losing her husband as a result of a brain injury he suffered during an assault, a victim of hate crime, and Denise (pictured above), who lost her daughter as a result of a road collision in 2011.
In the video, Denise speaks of how Victim Support NI helped her cope with her loss, and helped facilitate a meeting between her and the man who was driving the car involved in the crash while he was serving an 18 month prison sentence.
Victim Support NI Communications Officer, Anne Carlin, said: “We hope that our YouTube Channel will encourage more victims to avail of these free services and help them realise that support is there, during what can be for many, an extremely traumatic time.”
