There have been two burglaries at Derry's North West Model Aircraft Club in the one week.

Local DUP Alderman Graham Warke visited the club's headquarters at Duncastle Road, Newbuildings to discuss the issue.

A DUP spokesperson said: "Alderman Graham Warke yesterday met with Frank Cassidy Secretary of North West Model Aircraft Club. This was after two burglaries on the clubs premises this week.

"The club was formed in 1939 and has been in Duncastle Road for 25 years.

"This recent activity has been very worrying for the entire club. Acts of vandalism like this creates unnecessary expense for a small voluntary group who have a very long standing history.

"We would ask if anyone has witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to contact PSNI Foyle on 101 to hopefully have the perpetrators brought to justice."
