SDLP Councillor Brian Tierney has thanked Transport NI for addressing the concerns of residents in the Carnhill estate.
Councillor Tierney said: “We had been contacted by residents in Carnhill who raised concerns regarding the street lighting system burning 24 hours a day.
“We contacted Transport NI who quickly responded and addressed the issue and the lights are now back in sequence, from dusk to dawn.
“Officials have confirmed that there had been some vandalism to the lights, which they have addressed but coming into the dark winter nights it’s important that streetlights are working and working correctly, therefore we are thankful that Transport NI have been out to visit the area and carried out any repairs that were required.
"I would appeal to anyone who may think it is fun to cause damage to streetlights or any other street infrastructure to be mindful of the effect that might have on our more vulnerable neighbours.”
