Three youths were arrested after a car was stolen in Lisfannon Park in the Bogside area in the early hours of Sunday.
Shortly after 5.30am, the car was spotted abandoned at Balloughry Road.
An attempt had been made to set it on fire.
Three arrests were made by police on Sunday afternoon.
The youths, all aged 16, were bailed pending further enquiries.
