A man was jailed yesterday for robbing a Derry priest after taking shelter at a parochial house.

Father Paddy O'Kane answered the door of the parochial house at Holy Family church on a freezing December night in 2011 and, after meeting a man in a 'very distressed state', offered him a bed for the night.

However, money was stolen from the house and, yesterday, Ciaran Hogan was jailed for six months for the theft.
