Police are appealing for information about two assaults in the Pennyburn area of Derry.
Inspector Terry McKenna said the incident happened on Saturday October 18, about half an hour apart.
“At about 10pm, a 16-year-old youth left a funfair and was followed by a group of youths who punched him in the head and knocked him to the ground,
“Then, at about 10.25pm, a 15-year-old girl was standing alone outside the amusements when she was approached by four female youths. One pushed her before, they all grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground.
“She was assaulted by all four while on the ground. A male then helped her to her feet. The pair only made it a short distance away when the group of girls pushed her to the ground again. She got up and ran off.
“If anyone saw these incidents and can help identify the culprit we would ask them to make contact with police at Strand Road." Information can be given on the police non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, it can be provided to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
