Half-time: Paddy McCourt sets up Sean Houston as Harps hold the lead

Finn Harps lead Galway United 1-0 at the break in their Premier Division clash at Finn Park. Harps had the better of the opening exchanges and deservedly took the lead on 27 minutes. Former Northern Ireland international Paddy McCourt, who was named in the starting line-up for the first time this season, played a great pass through for Sean Houston who fired past Conor Winn from just inside the box. Shortly afterwards, Galway struck the bar through Kevin Devaney and when the rebound fell for Gavan Holohan his shot was saved by Ciaran Gallagher. Harps then real had a real let-off on 43 minutes when they lost possession in front of goal and nearly paid the price as Vinny Faherty latched onto a loose ball but fired narrowly wide.
