Feeney woman Dearbhaile Brady (front centre) will compete for Ireland at the upcoming World Para Swimming Championships
County Derry swimmer Dearbhaile Brady will represent Ireland at the upcoming World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore.
The Feeney woman will compete in the 200m Individual Medley, 50m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, and 50m Butterfly.
Brady has shown versatility across butterfly, breaststroke, freestyle, and medley events. Still in the early stages of her international career, she continues to grow as a multi-event competitor having made her Paralympic debut in Paris last summer.
The 2025 World Para Swimming Championships will welcome over 600 athletes from more than 60 nations, marking the first time the Championships are hosted in Asia. The championships will take place from September 21-27 at the OCBC Aquatic Centre.
Speaking about the announcement Paralympics Ireland CEO, Stephen McNamara said: “We all wish our swim team the very best for the weeks ahead. The preparation work is done and now it’s about putting those plans into action. This is an exciting time for our athletes and we can’t wait to see them compete.”
Para Swimming Head Coach, Hayley Burke added: "Our athletes have been working extremely hard in preparation for Singapore, and this World Championships provides a fantastic opportunity to test ourselves against the very best in the world. For some, it will be a chance to build on their Paralympic experience in Paris, while for others it’s about gaining vital exposure on the international stage. We are confident that this team will not only perform with pride but also continue their progression towards Los Angeles 2028."
