The number of Gaelcholáiste Dhoire pupils who are gaining recognition for their sporting achievements is rising and this year was no exception.

Niamh Nig Uiginn (Sléacht Néill) was awarded an Ulster Colleges Camogaí Allstar Award this year and attended a Gala Dinner in the Elk to receive her award.  It was well deserved recognition for the player who captained her Year 12 team to victory in the Sciath Bhríde Competition as well as being named as Player of the Match in the Rosina McManus Cup for the Senior team.

Peadar Pio Ó Duibhne and Emmet Óg Mac Íomhair participated in a series of hurling trials organised by Queens University and were both awarded a Future Stars Award.  This is the first time that two players from the school were successful in Future Stars and apt recognition for both players who played their part in the rise of the senior Hurling team to the topflight Mageean Cup Competition over the last number of years.

Cathal Ó Mianáin finishes his Gaelcholáiste Dhoire on a high note having picked up his second Ulster Colleges Allstar Award for Hurling. Cathal’s fearless and determined performances on the pitch have acted as an example to his peers and his generation of players have blazed a trial for the Gaelcholáiste’s younger players to follow and build on into the future.
