The DUP has condemned 'sectarian graffiti' that has been sprayed on the Clooney Road in Derry, saying it is the work of 'mindless thugs'.
The graffiti sprayed on the road includes the slogans 'IRA', 'Brits out' and 'Prods out'.
Alderman David Ramsey of the DUP said that this type of behaviour was an attack on a 'large proportion of people living in the area' and must be condemned by everyone in the community and wider city.
He added that the Department for Infrastructure has already been contacted to see that the slogans are promptly removed.
He said: "The DUP condemn the sectarian graffiti that has appeared on the A2 Clooney Road.
"A number of people have contacted the MLA office expressing disappointment at the fact very sectarian comments have made against a large proportion of people living in the area.
"This must be condemned by everyone, it is very irresponsible for mindless thugs to try and make people feel not welcome.
"We have contacted Road Service to have this graffiti removed and hopefully this silly nonsense will not be repeated."
