More video footage has emerged this afternoon of a controlled explosion carried on a van in the Circular Road area of the Creggan estate in Derry.

The security alert began around 11.30am this morning (January 21) after it was reported that a white Transit had been hijacked by three masked men. An object was then thrown into to vehicle before the hijackers abandoned it.

A second security alert at Southway involving a hijacked Post Office vehicle is ongoing. The PSNI say that two delivery men were hijacked by four masked men. One of the assailants is understood to have been armed.

Today's alerts follow a car bomb attack on Saturday night at Bishop Street courthouse. Police are blaming republican group the New IRA for the attack.
