Ireland release five players from Rugby World Cup training squad

The Irish rugby management team have confirmed that five players will depart the Rugby World Cup training squad and return to their provinces to continue their pre-season training programmes.

Caolin Blade, Gavin Coombes, Calvin Nash, Jamie Osborne and Kieran Treadwell have all been released from the squad ahead of Ireland's warm-up fixture against England at the Aviva Stadium this Saturday.

Andy Farrell's side will also play Samoa in a warm-up game in Bayonne on August 26 before the final 33-man Ireland squad for the Rugby World Cup 2023 will be announced on August 27.

Ireland begin their 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign against Romania on September 9.
