People are being invited to a special trip down memory lane in Derry this evening.

A ‘Memories & Voices of Irish Street’ event will take place in Irish Street Community Centre.

A wide range of old photographs have been collected and they will be on display at tonight's event.

Many of the photographs are from the former Clondermott High School which was located in Irish Street.

At the beginning of the event, there will be a short presentation on the history of the Irish Street estate.

This will be followed by a short film with local residents who recall their stories of the place where they live.

Formers residents have also spoke about their memories of Irish Street.

The event has been organized as part of the Peace Walls Programme which is in operation at interface areas of the Waterside.

These are the Irish Street/Top of the Hill and Currynieri/Tullyally areas.

The projects aims to bring together people from these areas to work for the regeneration of their communities.

The research for the Irish Street project has been carried out by Outreach Worker Frank Carey.

He has been supported by representatives from the Protrait of the City project which was created last year as part of the City of Culture celebrations.

Entry to tonight's event at the Irish Street Community Centre, which starts at 7pm, is free and refreshments will be provided.
