The body of a young man recovered from the River Foyle this week has been confirmed as that of Andrew Quigley.

The body was discovered at around 9am on Monday morning near the Sainsburys store.

Andrew has been missing for several weeks after items belonging to him were found on the Foyle Bridge.

His family have admitted that he had suffered problems with drugs and had previously tried to take his own life.

Hundreds of people have taken part in searches for the 19 year-old Galliagh man.

The recovery of his body brings an end to a heartbreaking few weeks for his family.

Andrew’s remains will remain at his home in Knockalla Park from where they will be taken to the nearby St Joseph’s Church for 11am Requiem Mass on Friday.
